Adif backs mixed-gauging of Valencia Font Terminal

Adif Alta Velocidad continues to advance in the development of the Corridor Mediterranean and has tendered, for an amount of €21,818,770, the contract for the comprehensive remodeling and implementation of the mixed gauge at the València-Font de Sant Lluís terminal, on the València- Castello.

To carry out this action, which has an execution period of 30 months, the construction project includes actions on the track and electrification aimed at the implementation of the mixed gauge in the section corresponding to València-Font de Sant Lluís, both on its general tracks and on the section tracks that do so. require, adapting the facilities and elements of the line that is necessary for the correct operation of the standard train length of 750 m and guaranteeing adequate provision, capacity, stability and reliability of passenger and freight traffic.

This work reaffirms the commitment of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) and Adif AV with the planning and development of the Mediterranean Corridor, through new actions that promote and advance in the construction of this strategic infrastructure for the improvement of benefits to passengers in standard gauge since, when they are finished, there will be more lanes on which it will be possible to circulate both in conventional gauge (1,668 mm) and in standard gauge (1,435 mm). In addition, in the near future they will allow the transit of goods in standard gauge to or from Europe.
